         Pursuant to an announcement from the House floor on May 4, 2005,  
         the House Committee on Business and Industry met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Giddings, at 7:42 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Giddings; Elkins; Bailey; Bohac;  
                    Solomons; Taylor; Vo; Zedler (8). 
          
         Absent:    Representative Martinez (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Representative Vo moved that the April 19, 2005, minutes for the  
         House Committee on Business and Industry be corrected.  The  
         corrected minutes were authorized without objection. 
          
         HOUSE BILL No. 2899 
          
         The chair laid out HB 2899 as pending business.  
          
         Representative Bohac offered an amendment to the measure.  
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Bohac moved that HB 2899, as amended, be reported  
         favorably to the full House with the recommendation that it do  
         pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following  
         record vote:  
          
         Ayes:           Representatives Giddings; Elkins; Bailey; Bohac;  
                         Solomons; Taylor; Vo; Zedler (8). 
          
         Nays:           None (0). 
          
         Present, Not Voting:     None (0).

         The chair laid out SB 5. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Solomons, the House sponsor  
 
         of SB 5, to explain the measure.  
           
         Representative Elkins offered a complete committee substitute. 
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Solomons to close on the  
                         measure.  
          
         Representative Elkins moved that SB 5, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full House with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:
