         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 11, 2005, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Kolkhorst, at 1:15 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Kolkhorst; Branch; Crownover;  
                    Guillen; McClendon; Smith, Todd (6). 
          
         Absent:    None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Under Rule 4, Section 23A, Chairman Kolkhorst recognized  
         Representative Pitts to provide information to the committee.  
          
         At 4:04 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 4:20 p.m., February 14, 2005. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 4:30 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Kolkhorst. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Kolkhorst; Crownover; McClendon;  
                    Smith, Todd (4). 
          
         Absent:    Representatives Branch; Guillen (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representative Branch now present.)  (Representative Guillen  
         now present.) 
          
         At 5:29 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned until 8:00 a.m., February 15, 2005.
