H.B. No. 2441




AN ACT
relating to the recreational facility fee at The University of Texas at San Antonio. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 54.543, Education Code, is amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: (a) The board of regents of The University of Texas System may charge each student enrolled at The University of Texas at San Antonio a recreational facility fee not to exceed: (1) $150 [$100] for a term or semester of more than six weeks; [each semester of the regular term] or (2) $75 for a term or semester of six weeks or less. (a-1) The recreational facility fee may be used only [summer session] to finance, construct, operate, maintain, or improve student recreational facilities at the university. SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies beginning with the 2005 fall semester. SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2005. ______________________________ ______________________________ President of the Senate Speaker of the House I certify that H.B.
