         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Legislative Oversight Committee  
         on Higher Education was held on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, in the  
         Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 10:47 a.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         Witnesses testifying and registering on fall 2004 tuition  
         increases for institutions of higher education are shown on the  
         attached list.   
          
         At 1:02 p.m. Senator Shapiro assumed the chair.  
          
         At 1:33 p.m. Representative Morrison resumed the chair.    
          
         The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         There being no further business, at 3:46 p.m. Representative Morrison moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call  
         of the chair.  Without objection, it was  
         so ordered.
