         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health &  
         Human Services was held on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in the Senate  
         Chamber at Austin, Texas.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.  The  
         following business was transacted:   
          
         The Chair opened the floor to invited testimony relating to the  
         Committee's charge regarding electronic transactions in health  
         care.  Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the  
         attached list.  
          
         A quorum was established at 1:20 p.m. 
          
         Senator Janek moved adoption of the minutes from the hearings  
         held on May 24, 2004 and May 25, 2004; without objection, it was  
         so ordered. 
          
         The Chair opened the floor to invited testimony relating to the  
         Committee's charge regarding the effectiveness of legislation  
         affecting the State Board of Medical Examiners.  Witnesses  
         testifying and registering are shown on the attached list.  
          
         The Chair opened the floor to invited testimony relating to the Committee's charge regarding the effectiveness of legislation  
         affecting childhood immunizations.  Witnesses  
         testifying and registering are shown on the attached list.  
          
         The Chair opened the floor to public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the  
         attached list.  
          
         There being no further business, at 4:05 p.m. Senator Deuell  
         moved that the Committee stand in recess  
         subject to the call of the Chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
