         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 3, 2004, the House Committee  
         on Sex Offenders Statutes, Select was scheduled to meet in a  
         public hearing at 2:00 p.m. or upon adjournment. However,  
         pursuant to a suspension of the 24-hour posting rule on May 11,  
         2004, the House Committee on Sex Offenders Statutes, Select met  
         in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Keel, at 12:26 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Keel; Allen; Ellis, Dan; Escobar;  
                   Hegar; Hodge; Pena (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Driver; Haggerty (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Began work on the interim charge directing the committee to  
         examine Chapter 62 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to  
         streamline and clarify the statutory provisions relating to the  
         Sex Offender Registration Program.  
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 2:50 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
