         Pursuant to a suspension of the 5-day posting rule on April 10,  
         2003, the House Committee on Pensions & Investments met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Ritter, at 1:42 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Ritter; Telford; McClendon; Martinez  
                   Fischer; Rose (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Grusendorf; Pena (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The Chair recognized Representative Jim Pitts to give a briefing  
         of the provisions affecting the Teacher Retirement System of  
         Texas regarding the Appropriations Bill. 
          
         The Chair recognized Representative Pickett to give a briefing  
         of the provisions affecting the Employees Retirement System of  
         Texas regarding the Appropriations Bill. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         Representative Pickett continued his briefing and addressed the  
         funding of the Pension Review Board of Texas regarding the  
         Appropriations Bill. 
          
         At 2:22 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
