         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on March 26,  
         2003, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Morrison, at 6:50 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Morrison; Brown, Fred; Chavez;  
                   Giddings; Jones, Jesse; Mercer (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Nixon; Smithee (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair directed that the March 24, 2003, minutes for the  
         House Committee on Higher Education be corrected. The corrected  
         minutes were authorized without objection. 
          
         At 6:52 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
