         Committee on Border and International Affairs met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Chavez, at 8:15 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Chavez; Griggs; Canales; Castro;  
                   Merritt; Riddle (6). 
          
         Absent:   None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair made remarks.

         At 8:21 a .m., on the motion of Representative Griggs and  
         without objection, the meeting was recessed until 8:25 a.m.,  
         March 19, 2003.  
          
         The committee reconvened at 8:26 a.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Chavez. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Chavez; Griggs; Canales; Castro;  
                   Merritt; Riddle (6). 
          
         Absent:   None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 9:26 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
