         Pursuant to a notice posted on June 21, 2004, the House  
         Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the chair, Representative Hardcastle, at  
         9:07 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hardcastle; Miller; Brown, Betty;  
                   Laney; Swinford (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Burnam; Jones, Delwin (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The committee took testimony on Interim Charge #2: Assess the  
         state's brush control efforts to ensure that available programs  
         and funding are utilized to fulfill their maximum potential and  
         also examine the impact of invasive aquatic plants (hydrilla,  
         water hyacinth, etc.) and animals (zebra mussels, etc.) 
          
         (Representative Delwin Jones now present.) 
          
         (Representative Burnam now present.) 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         The committee then heard testimony on the Texas Animal Health  
         Commission.

         The committee then heard testimony on the Office of Rural  
         Community Affairs. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 1:40 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
