R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On March 13, 2003, the El Paso Commission for Women is posthumously inducting Ann M. Enriquez into its Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Established in 1985, the commission is composed of El Paso citizens who are committed to the pursuit of equal rights and responsibilities for all women; inductees to the organization's Hall of Fame are recognized in one of five categories, including arts, civic leadership, education, professional, and public service; and WHEREAS, Selected for the civic leadership category, Ms. Enriquez used her position as the regional public affairs director with Southern Union Gas to enhance the lives of her fellow Texans, maintaining that her position was not about gaining recognition for her company, but for contributing to the betterment of the community; and WHEREAS, Over the years, she had worked diligently in behalf of numerous worthwhile civic programs, including the San Elizario Independent School District, the R. E. Thomason Hospital Board, the City-County Health and Environment District Board, Girl Scouts of America, the YWCA, the El Paso Diabetes Association, and the chamber of commerce; and WHEREAS, The success of the State of Texas, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend on the dedication of people like Ms. Enriquez, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others, and it is a privilege to join in paying tribute to her many achievements at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor the late Ann M. Enriquez on her induction into the El Paso Commission for Women's Hall of Fame. Chavez ______________________________ Speaker of the House I certify that H.R.
