Amend CSHB 3588, in Article 12 of the bill, by adding an 
appropriately numbered SECTION to read as follows and renumbering 
existing SECTIONS of that article accordingly:
	SECTION 12.___.  Section 224.153, Transportation Code, is 
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
	(d)  A motor vehicle displaying a state official license 
plate issued under Section 502.295 or another law of this state is 
entitled to travel in a preferential car pool or high occupancy 
vehicle lane designated under this section or another law of this 
state regardless of the number of occupants in the vehicle if the 
motor vehicle is engaged in official state business.
