         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Natural  
         Resources was held on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, in the  
         Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 2:19 a.m.  There  
         being a quorum present, the following business was  
         transacted:   
          
         Senator Lucio moved that the minutes from the previous  
         hearing be adopted and there being no objection, the motion  
         carried.  Chairman Brown then read a resolution in honor of  
         Terri Seales' fortieth birthday. 
          
         The committee then took testimony on the subject of water  
         issues in Texas, (see attached witness list) after which  
         Chairman Brown gave a brief overview of his major upcoming  
         water legislation. 
          
         The committee then took testimony on the subject of air  
         quality issues in Texas, (see attached witness list) after  
         which Chairman Brown gave a brief overview of his upcoming  
         air quality legislation. 
  
         There being no further business, at 5:11 p.m. Senator Brown  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call  
         of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
