         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was  
         held on Thursday, April 5, 2001, in the Lt. Governor Committee  
         Hearing Room, 2E.20, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 8:37 a.m.  The  
         following business was transacted:   
          
         The Committee convened to hear invited testimony on the issue of  
         public school employee health insurance.  Witness list is  
         attached. 
          
         Testimony by panel of invited witnesses and committee  
         discussion.
