         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on  
         Administration was held on Monday, April 23, 2001, in E1.714

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:08 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         Senator Moncrief moved adoption of the minutes from the previous  
         hearing held on April 17, 2001; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.   
          
         The Chair laid out SB1188.  Senator Ogden sent up Committee  
         Amendment 1 and moved adoption; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.  Senator Brown moved that SB1188 as amended be left  
         pending; without objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         Chairman Cain asked if there were any questions or comments  
         about any of the bills recommended for the April 26, 2001, Local  
         and Uncontested Calendar.  There was discussion.  Senator Ogden  
         moved that only HB 120, HB 753, and HB 782 on page one of the  
         Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified;  
         without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Ogden moved that  
         all bills on page two of the Local and Uncontested Calender  
         recommended list be certified; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.  Senator Ogden moved that all bills with the exception  
         of SB 1020 and SB 1203 on page three of the Local and  
         Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Brown moved that all  
         bills on page four with the exception of SB 1333, SB 1393, SB  
         1414, and SB 1625 be certified for placement on the Local and  
         Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Zaffirini moved that all  
         bills on page five of the Local and Uncontested Calendar  
  
         recommended list be certified; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.  Senator Brown moved that all bills on page six of the  
         Local and Uncontested Calendar recommended list be certified;  
         without objection, it was so ordered. 
          
         There being no further business, at 4:35 p.m. Senator Zaffirini  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
