Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule
11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on
Administration was held on Monday, March 26, 2001, in E1.714

The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. There being
a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
The Chair laid out SCR33 and recognized the author, Senator
Haywood, to explain the bill. Senator Brown moved that SCR33 be
reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it
do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote
of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator
Brown moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the
Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so
ordered.
Senator Zaffirini moved adoption of the minutes from the
previous hearings held on March 19, 2001, and March 20, 2001;
without objection, it was so ordered.
Chairman Cain asked if there were any questions or comments
about any of the bills recommended for the March 29, 2001, Local
and Uncontested Calendar. There was discussion. Senator
Moncrief moved that all of the bills on page one of the
recommended list be certified for the Local and Uncontested
Calendar, with the exception of SB 595. Without objection, it
was so ordered. Senator Moncrief moved that all of the bills on
page two of the recommended list be certified for the Local and
Uncontested Calendar, with the exception of SB 1038 which will
be held to wait for the House Bill. Without objection, it was
so ordered. Senator Moncrief moved that all of the bills on
page three of the recommended list be certified for the Local
and Uncontested Calendar, along with SB 992 which had been left
pending during the March 19, 2001, meeting. Without objection,
it was so ordered.
The Chair laid out SCR17 and recognized the author, Senator
Barrientos, to explain the bill. Senator Brown moved that SCR17
be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that
it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record
vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.
Senator Moncrief moved that the bill be recommended for
placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without
objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 4:28 p.m. Senator Moncrief
moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of
the Chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
