         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 3, 2001,  
         the House Committee on Ways & Means met in a formal meeting and  
         was called to order by the chair, Representative Oliveira, at  
         5:49 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Oliveira; McCall; Bonnen; Davis,  
                   Yvonne; Hartnett; Keffer; Ramsay; Ritter (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Craddick; Heflin; Hilbert (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 1125 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1125, the companion to HB 3143, in lieu of  
         the house bill. 
          
         Representative McCall offered a complete committee substitute. 
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative McCall moved that SB 1125, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:               Representatives Oliveira; McCall; Bonnen;  
                             Davis, Yvonne; Hartnett; Keffer; Ramsay;  
                             Ritter (8).

         The chair laid out SB 1315, the companion to HB 3126, in lieu of  
         the house bill. 
          
         Representative Keffer moved that SB 1125, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:
