         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 17,  
         2001, the House Committee on Public Safety met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Turner, Bob, at 11:59 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Turner, Bob; Berman; Driver; Isett;  
                   King, Phil; Villarreal, Mike (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keel; Gutierrez; Hupp (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 455 
          
         The chair laid out SB 455. 
          
         Chairman Turner explained the measure. 
          
         Representative Berman moved that SB 455, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:               Representatives Turner, Bob; Berman; Driver;  
                             Isett; King, Phil (5).  
           
         Nays:               Representative Villarreal, Mike (1).  
           
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).  
           
         Absent:        Representatives Keel; Gutierrez; Hupp  (3).  
           
         At 12:08 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
