         On May 5, 2001, the House Committee on Public Safety authorized  
         the correction of the  minutes for the meeting of the House  
         Committee on Public Safety held on March 5, 2001. The following  
         are the corrected minutes for that meeting: 
          
         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 28, 2001, the House  
         Committee on Public Safety met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the chair, Representative Turner, Bob, at  
         12:44 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman; Driver;  
                   Hupp; Isett; King, Phil (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Gutierrez; Villarreal, Mike (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Chairman Turner made opening remarks. 
          
         HB 780 
          
         The chair laid out HB 780. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Uher to explain the measure.  
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Uher to close on the  
         measure.  
          
         Representative Keel moved that HB 780, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:               Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman;  
                             Driver; Hupp; Isett; King, Phil (7).  
           
         Nays:               None (0).  
           
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

         The chair recognized Representative Haggerty to explain the  
         measure.

         measure.  
         Representative Isett moved that HB 940, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:

         The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which HB 118 was  
         reported.  The motion to reconsider prevailed without objection. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Hupp to explain the measure.

         Representative Hupp offered a complete committee substitute.  
          
         The chair recognized Representative Hupp to close on the  
         measure.  
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Driver moved that HB 118, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the
