         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 25,  
         2001, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Rangel, at 6:45 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

         Representative Uher moved to reconsider the vote by which SB  
         743, as amended, was reported back to the full House with the  
         recommendation that it do pass and be printed and placed on the  
         General Calendar.  The motion to reconsider prevailed without  
         objection. 
          
         Representative Uher moved that SB 743, as amended, be reported  
         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do  
         pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and  
         Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record  
         vote:

         The chair laid out SB 1498, the companion to HB 2476, in lieu of  
         the house bill. 
          
         Representative Uher moved that SB 1498, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
  
         following record vote:
