         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 26, 2001, the House  
         Committee on Elections met in a public hearing and was called to  
         order by the chair, Representative Danburg, at 2:10 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Denny; Gallego;  
                   Madden; Truitt (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Hodge; Sadler; Wilson (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representative Hodge now present.) 
          
         (Representative Wilson now present.) 
          
         Testimony was taken on problems encountered in the State of  
         Florida in the presidential election and possible changes in  
         Texas election law to avoid same.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 4:29 p.m., on the motion of Representative Madden and without  
         objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the  
         chair.
