         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 8, 2001, the House  
         Committee on Civil Practices met in a public hearing with the  
         House Committee on Judicial Affairs and the Senate Committee on  
         Jurisprudence and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Bosse, at 2:07 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Bosse; Clark; Hope; Martinez Fischer;  
                   Smithee (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Janek; Dutton; Nixon, Joe; Zbranek  
                   (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The purpose of the hearing was to receive the State of the  
         Judiciary Address by the Honorable Chief Justice Thomas R.  
         Phillips. 
          
         The Chair recognized Chief Justice Phillips for the address and  
         a short round of questions followed. 
          
         At 3:02 p.m., on the motion of the Chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the Chair.
