         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 9,  
         2001, the House Committee on Business & Industry met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Brimer, at 1: 15 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Brimer; Dukes; Elkins; Giddings;  
                   Solomons; Woolley (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Corte; Davis, John; George (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representative George now present.) 
          
         HB 557 
          
         The chair laid out HB 557 as pending business. 
          
         Representative Dukes offered a complete committee substitute.  
          
         The chair recognized Representative Dukes to explain the  
         measure.  
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Dukes moved that HB 557, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:               Representatives Brimer; Dukes; Elkins;  
                             George; Giddings; Solomons; Woolley (7).  
           
         Nays:               None (0).  
           
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).  
           
         Absent:        Representatives Corte; Davis, John  (2).  
           
         At 1:25 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
