         Pursuant to a notice posted on August 7, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Judicial Interpretations of Law, Select met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Bosse, at 10:13 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Bosse; Dunnam; Gray; Hinojosa;  
                   Solomons (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Goodman; Hamric; Smith (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Chairman Bosse made comments regarding cases and other issues  
         before the committee.  In doing so he also introduces a resource  
         witness, Jonathan Davis, from the Texas Legislative Council.   
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         Mr. Davis described a review in which Texas Legislative Council  
         performed regarding other states which conduct a similar review  
         of appellate court decisions. 
          
         Members made additional comments and suggestions regarding  
         identified cases, the committee's report and recommendations. 
          
         At 10:54 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
