MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES Subcommittee on Agriculture Thursday, April 8, 1999 1:00 pm Capitol Extension, Room E1.012 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing Senate Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Agriculture was held on Thursday, April 8, 1999 in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Tom Haywood Senator Teel Bivins Senator Kenneth Armbrister ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:10 pm. The following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Teel Bivins Senator Kenneth Armbrister The Chair laid out SB 1265 and recognized the author, Senator Ellis, to explain the bill. Senator Haywood sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Ellis to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed. Senator Haywood moved adoption of the committee substitute, without objection, it was so ordered. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Armbrister moved that CSSB 1265 be reported favorably back to the full committee. The motion carried with a vote of 2 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. Senator Armbrister assumed the Chair. The Chair laid out SB 1183 and recognized the author, Senator Haywood, to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Haywood moved that SB 1183 be reported favorably to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 3 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. The Chair laid out SB 1481 and recognized the author, Senator Haywood, to explain the bill. Senator Haywood moved that SB 1481 be reported favorably to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 3 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Haywood assumed the Chair. The Chair laid out SB 1304 and recognized Senator Armbrister, in the absence of the author, to explain the bill. Senator Armbrister sent up a Committee Substitute, and explained the differences. Senator Armbrister moved that the Committee Substitute be adopted; without objection, the substitute was adopted. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. Senator Bivins moved that SB 1265 do not pass but that CSSB 1265 be reported back to the full Committee with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a vote of 3 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Armbrister moved adoption of the minutes from 3/25/99. Hearing no objection it was so ordered. There being no further business, at 1:58 pm Senator Bivins moved that the Committee be adjourned.
