         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 11,  
         1999, the House Committee on Ways & Means met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Ren  Oliveira at 12:20 pm.

         The chair laid out SB 693 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Oliveira offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Keffer moved that SB 693, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Oliveira; McCall; Bonnen;  
                        Craddick; Davis, Yvonne; Heflin; Hilbert;

         substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the

         The amendments were adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Craddick moved that SB 1488, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the
