         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 19, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Ways & Means met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Ren  Oliveira at  
         2:15 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Oliveira; McCall; Craddick; Davis,  
                   Yvonne; Heflin; Hilbert; Keffer; Ramsay; Sadler (9). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Bonnen; King, Tracy (2). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out SB 290.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Craddick to explain the  
         measure.

         The chair laid out the topic of sales, use, and excise taxes.

         At 7:08 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
