         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 6,  
         1999, the House Committee on Transportation met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Clyde Alexander at 6:51 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Alexander; Siebert; Edwards; Hamric;  
                   Hawley; Hill; Noriega; Uher (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Davis, Yvonne (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 966 and SJR 45 
          
         Pursuant to a suspension of the 5-day posting rule, the chair  
         laid out SB 966 and SJR 45.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Oliveira to explain both  
         measures.   
          
         The chair recognized Senator Lucio to explain both measures.   
          
         The chair recognized Senator Shapleigh to explain both  
         measures.   
          
         The chair recognized Senator Ogden to explain both measures.   
          
         Testimony was taken on both measures.  (See attached witness  
         list.)

         The chair recognized Representative Oliveira to close on both  
         measures.   
          
         SB 966 and SJR 45 were left pending without objection.  
          
         HB 2311 
          
         The chair laid out HB 2311 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Alexander offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
  
         Representative Hill moved that HB 2311, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Alexander; Edwards; Hamric;  
                        Hawley; Hill (5). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Siebert; Davis, Yvonne;  
                        Noriega; Uher (4). 
          
         SB 1195 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1195 as pending business.   
          
         The bill was left pending without objection.  
          
         At 8:45 pm, on the motion of Representative Hill and without  
         objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of  
         the chair.
