         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 17,  
         1999, the House Committee on State Affairs met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Steven Wolens at 12:30 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Wolens; Turner, Sylvester; Alvarado;  
                   Bailey; Brimer; Counts; Danburg; Hilbert; Hunter;  
                   Jones, Delwin; Longoria; Marchant; McCall; Merritt  
                   (14). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Craddick (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The committee discussed the subject matter of  
         telecommunications. 
          
         At 1:58 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
