         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 22,  
         1999, the House Committee on Public Safety met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Bob Turner at 11:44 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Turner, Bob; Berman; Driver;  
                   Gutierrez; King, Phil (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keel; Carter; Hupp; Najera (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 1766 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1766.   
          
         (Representative Carter now present.)   
          
         Representative Berman moved that SB 1766 be reported favorably  
         to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and  
         be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent  
         Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Turner, Bob; Berman; Carter;  
                        Driver; Gutierrez; King, Phil (6). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Keel; Hupp; Najera (3). 
          
         At 11:46 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
