Pursuant to a notice posted on February 17, 1999, the House
Committee on Public Safety met in a public hearing and was
called to order by the Chair, Representative Bob Turner at
11:49 am.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman;
Gutierrez; Hupp; Najera (6).
Absent: Representatives Carter; Driver; King, Phil (3).
A quorum was present.

At 11:53 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was recessed until 1:15 pm.
The committee reconvened at 1:19 pm and was called to order by
the chair, Representative Turner, Bob. The roll was answered
as follows:
Present: Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman; Carter;
Driver; Hupp (6).
Absent: Representatives Gutierrez; King, Phil; Najera (3).
A quorum was present.

HB 165
The chair laid out HB 165.
The chair recognized Representative Chisum to explain the
measure.
Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.)
The chair recognized Representative Chisum to close on the
measure.
Representative Keel moved that HB 165 be reported favorably to
the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be
printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent
Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following vote:

Carter; Driver; Gutierrez; Hupp; Najera (8).
