         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 14, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Insurance met in a public hearing and was called to  
         order by the acting chair, Representative Eiland at 4:00 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Eiland; Burnam; Lewis, Glenn; Moreno,  
                   Joe; Olivo; Seaman (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Smithee; Thompson; Wise (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         A report was given on the Texas Department of Insurance.   
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         A report was given on the agreement between AetnaU.S. Healthcare  
         and the Attorney General concerning HMO operations in Texas.   
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         The chair named the following members to the subcommittee on  
         Mandatory "Hospitalist" Programs in Managed Care:   
         Representative Lewis, Glenn, Chair; Representative Burnam. 
          
         At 4:45 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
