         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 14, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Insurance met in a public hearing and was called to  
         order by the acting chair, Representative Lewis, Glenn at 10:15  
         a.m.  This meeting was a joint hearing with the House Committee  
         on Financial Institutions. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Burnam; Lewis, Glenn; Moreno, Joe;  
                   Olivo; Seaman (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Smithee; Eiland; Thompson; Wise (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representative Smithee now present.) 
          
         (Representative Eiland now present.) 
          
         Testimony was taken on one of the Committee's interim charges  
         (See attached witness list).  The charge addressed is as  
         follows: 
          
         Review the federal "financial services modernization" act to  
         identify necessary changes to state laws and regulations  
         governing insurance and financial institutions.                                                   
         At 3:45 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
