         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 7, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Higher Education met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the chair, Representative Rangel, at 10:08  
         a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Rangel, Irma; Brown, Fred; Farabee,  
                   David; Goolsby, Tony; Jones, Jesse; Reyna, Elvira (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Cuellar, Henry; Morrison, Geanie;  
                   Wohlgemuth, Arlene (3). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         Testimony was taken on Interim Charge Two:  Evaluate the  
         satisfaction of professional and graduate school programs, the  
         business community and general public with the preparation level  
         of college graduates to determine what changes are needed in  
         course offerings and preparation levels.  (See attached witness  
         list.) 
          
         At 1:08 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
