         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 29,  
         1999, the House Committee on Elections met in a public hearing  
         and was called to order by the Acting Chair, Representative  
         Jones, Jesse at 3:23 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Jones, Jesse; Averitt; Denny; Hodge;  
                   Madden; Uher (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Danburg; Gallego; Greenberg (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HB 2276 
          
         The chair recalled HB 2276 from subcommittee.   
          
         Representative Madden offered a complete committee substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         (Representative Gallego now present.) 
          
         Representative Madden moved that HB 2276, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Jones, Jesse; Averitt; Denny;  
                        Gallego; Hodge; Madden; Uher (7). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Danburg; Greenberg (2).

         HB 2163 
         The chair recalled HB 2163 from subcommittee.   
          
         Representative Gallego moved that HB 2163 be reported  
         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do  
         pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and  
  
         Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following  
         vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Averitt;  
                        Denny; Gallego; Hodge; Madden; Uher (8). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representative Greenberg (1). 
          
         At 3:46 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
