         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 15, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Corrections met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Pat Haggerty at  
         4:44 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

         The chair laid out SB 744.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Haggerty to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative Haggerty offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Farrar moved that SB 744, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:
