         Pursuant to an announcement from the House Floor and pursuant  
         to a suspension of the 5-day posting rule on May 14, 1999, the  
         House Committee on Business & Industry met in a formal hearing  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Kim  
         Brimer at 12:10 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

         SB 1742 
          
         Pursuant to a suspension of the five day posting rule, the  
         chair laid out SB 1742.   
          
         (Representative George now present.)   
          
         Representative Brimer moved that SB 1742 be reported favorably  
         to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and  
         be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent  
         Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Brimer; George; Ritter;  
                        Siebert; Solomons; Woolley (6). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Dukes; Corte; Giddings (3). 
          
         SB 699 
          
         The chair recalled SB 699 from subcommittee.   
          
         (Representative Dukes now present.)   
          
         Representative Solomons offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Solomons to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative Siebert moved that SB 699, as substituted, be  
  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:
