House Committee on Appropriations

         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 22, 1999 and an  
         announcement from the House floor, the House Committee on  
         Appropriations met in a formal meeting and was called to order  
         by the chair, Representative Robert Junell at 3:15 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Junell; West, George "Buddy";  
                   Coleman; Cuellar; Farrar; Giddings; Glaze;  
                   Gutierrez; Hartnett; Heflin; Janek; Luna, Vilma;  
                   McReynolds; Mowery; Pickett; Pitts; Puente; Turner,  
                   Sylvester; Van de Putte (19). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Delisi; Eiland; Flores; Gallego;  
                   Hochberg; Moreno, Paul; Staples; Tillery (8). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HJR 58 
          
         The chair laid out HJR 58.   
          
         Representative Cuellar offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Cuellar to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative Cuellar moved that HJR 58, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
         Ayes:          Representatives Junell; West, George "Buddy";  
                        Coleman; Cuellar; Farrar; Giddings; Glaze;  
                        Gutierrez; Hartnett; Heflin; Janek; Luna,

         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Delisi; Eiland; Flores;  
                        Gallego; Hochberg; Moreno, Paul; Staples;  
                        Tillery (8). 
          
         Representative Eiland was excused from the meeting.  It was  
  
         requested that the following message be included in the  
         record:  "I have a group of constituents in town today from  
         the Texas City - La Marque Chamber of Commerce as part of the  
         Leadership Mainland program. I will need to meet with them  
         upon adjournment of the House.  Please excuse me from the  
         Appropriations Committee formal meeting today.  Thank-you." 
          
         At 3:35 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
