                 SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES (INTERIM) 
                          Wednesday, September 16, 1998

         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.11, an open meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural  
         Resources (Interim) was held on Wednesday, September 16, 1998  
         in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

         Chairman Brown called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.  There  
         being a quorum present, the following business was transacted.   
          
         Senator Lindsay moved that the Minutes from the previous  
         meeting be approved.  There being no objection, the Minutes  
         were adopted. 
          
         Chairman Brown made opening remarks.  Public testimony was not  
         taken, as posted. 
          
         Chairman Brown explained the recommendations before the  
         committee regarding the following interim reports: 
          
         Siting of Solid Waste Facilities.  Senator Lindsay moved for  
         the adoption of the report.  There being no objection, the  
         report was adopted. 
          
         General Licensing Authority.  Senator Haywood moved for the  
         adoption of the report.  There being no objection, the report  
         was adopted. 
          
         The implementation of SB 1876 & SB 1591.  Senator Lucio moved  
         for the adoption of the report.  There being no objection, the  
         report was adopted. 
          
         Superfund & Voluntary Clean-Up Programs.  Senator Lucio moved  
         for the adoption of the report.  There being no objection, the  
         report was adopted. 
  
         American Heritage Rivers Initiative.  Senator Lindsay moved  
         for the adoption of the report.  Senator Lucio requested the  
         committee to continue to monitor the AHRI.  There being no  
         objection, the report was adopted. 
          
         There being no further business, at 4:25 p.m., Senator Lindsay  
         moved that the committee stand in recess. 
          
         It was so ordered.
