         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Interim Committee on  
         Natural Resources was held on Monday, November 17, 1997, in  
         the San Antonio City Council Chamber, at San Antonio, Texas.

         The Chair called the hearing to order at 1:50 pm.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted.   
          
         Senator Truan moved that the Minutes from the previous hearing  
         be adopted.  There being no objection, it was so ordered. 
          
         Chairman Brown made opening remarks.

         Senator Brown read a letter from U.S. Representative Lamar  
         Smith into the record. 
          
         The following people testified on the interim charge of siting  
         of solid waste facilities: 
          
         Daniel Cardenas, City of San Antonio 
         Larry R. Cohn, Waste Management of Texas, Inc. 
          
         Senator Brown announced that the next hearing of the committee  
         would be held in Houston on January 16, 1998. 
          
         There being no further business Senator Truan moved that the  
         Committee be recessed.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
