         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on  
         Administration was held on Friday, May 23, 1997 in Admin.  
         Comte. Office E1.714, at Austin, Texas.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 7:05 am.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted.   
          
         Senator Harris asked if there were any questions or discussion  
         on any of the bills listed for certification on the Local and  
         Uncontested Calendar.  There was discussion and questions.   
         The committee as a whole moved to certify all the bills on the  
         list with the exception of HB 629, HB 921, HB 972, HB 1233, HB  
         1427, HB 1968 passed 5/22/97, HB 2065, HB 2283, HB 2386, HB  
         2396 pass 5/22/97, HB 2493, HB 2517 passed 5/22/97, HB 2693  
         passed 5/22/97, HB 2738, HB 2768 passed 5/22/97, HB 2829  
         passed 5/22/97, and HB 3244.  The motion carried with a vote  
         of 7 ayes, 0 nays. 
          
         There being no further business, at 8:40 am Senator Harris  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the Chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
