         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 15, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Ways & Means met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Tom Craddick at  
         10:18 am.  The committee met to discuss its interim charge:   
         Study issues related to state and federal taxation of internet  
         activities and other electronic commerce. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Craddick; Ramsay; Grusendorf;  
                   Heflin; Telford; Williamson (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Holzheauser; Horn; Oliveira; Stiles;  
                   Thompson (5). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representative Thompson now present.)   
          
         Testimony was taken.   
          
         At 11:25 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
