         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 5,  
         1997, the House Committee on Urban Affairs met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Fred Hill at 12:03 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Hill; Ehrhardt; Hodge; Shields;  
                   Wohlgemuth (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Bailey; Burnam; Clark; Garcia (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 657 
          
         The chair laid out SB 657 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Shields moved to reconsider the vote on SB 657.   
         Representative Ehrhardt seconded the motion. 
          
         The motion was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Shields offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         (Representatives Bailey and Burnam now present.)   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Shields moved that SB 657, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars.  Representative Ehrhardt seconded  
         the motion.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Hill; Bailey; Burnam; Ehrhardt;  
                        Hodge; Shields; Wohlgemuth (7). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Clark; Garcia (2). 
          
         HB 2511 
         The chair laid out HB 2511 as pending business.   
          
         The chair moved to reconsider HB 2511.  The motion was  
         accepted without objection. 
  
         The chair withdraws earlier adopted substitute. 
          
         The chair offered a complete committee substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Hodge offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments  
         into the committee substitute.   
          
         Representative Ehrhardt moved that HB 2511, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  Representative Hodge seconded  
         the motion.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Hill; Bailey; Burnam; Ehrhardt;  
                        Hodge; Shields; Wohlgemuth (7). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Clark; Garcia (2). 
          
         At 12:07 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
