         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 4, 1997, the House  
         Committee on State Recreational Resources met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Edmund Kuempel at 8:09 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Kuempel; Horn; King; Longoria;  
                   Merritt; Palmer (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives McCall; Hightower; Hilderbran (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         HB 2764 
          
         The chair laid out HB 2764.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Bosse to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative King offered a complete committee substitute.   
          
         (Representative McCall now present.)   
          
         Testimony was taken.   
          
         (Representative Hilderbran now present.)   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Bosse to close on the  
         measure.   
          
         The committee substitute was withdrawn. 
          
         Representative McCall moved to refer the bill to a  
         subcommittee to be named later by the chair.  The motion  
         prevailed without objection.

         The chair laid out HB 2542.   
          
         Representative Kuempel offered a complete committee  
         substitute.
