            Pursuant to a notice posted on March 7, 1997, the House 
            Committee on State Recreational Resources met in a public 
            hearing and was called to order by the Chair, 
            Representative Edmund Kuempel at 8:06 am.
            
            The roll was answered as follows:  
            
            Present:  Representatives Kuempel; McCall; Hilderbran; 
                      Horn; King; Longoria; Merritt; Palmer (8).
            
            Absent:   Representative Hightower (1).
            
            A quorum was present.
            
            HB 1452
            
            The chair laid out HB 1452.  
            
            The chair recognized Representative Gutierrez to explain 
            the measure.  
            
            Representative Longoria offered an amendment to the 
            measure.  
            Testimony was taken.  
            
            Representative Longoria withdrew his amendment to the 
            measure.
            
            The chair recognized Representative Gutierrez to close on 
            the measure.  
            
            The chair referred the bill to the Subcommittee on HB 1452.
            
            The chair named the following members to the Subcommittee 
            on HB 1452:  Representative King, Chair, Representatives 
            Longoria and Merritt.

            The chair laid out HB 1489.  
            
            The chair recognized Representative Bob Turner to explain 
            the measure.  
            
            Testimony was taken.  
            
            The chair recognized Representative Bob Turner to close on 
            the measure.  
            
            Representative McCall moved that HB 1489 be reported 
            favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it 
 
            


            do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the 
            following vote:  
            
            Ayes:     Representatives Kuempel; McCall; Horn; King; 
                      Longoria; Merritt; Palmer (7).
            
            Nays:     None (0).
            
            Present not Voting: None (0).
            
            Absent:   Representatives Hightower; Hilderbran (2).

            The chair named the following members to the Subcommittee
