         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 25, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Public Safety met in a formal meeting and was 
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Keith Oakley at 
         11:55 am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Oakley; Driver; Carter; Keel, Terry; 
                   Keffer; Madden; McClendon; Olivo; Reyna, Elvira (9).
         
         Absent:   None (0).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         HB 1255
         
         The chair laid out HB 1255 as pending business.  
         
         Representative McClendon moved that HB 1255 be reported 
         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do 
         pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following 
         vote:  
         
         Ayes:          Representatives Oakley; Driver; Carter; Keel, 
                        Terry; Keffer; McClendon; Olivo  (7).
         
         Nays:          Representatives Madden; Reyna, Elvira (2).
         
         Present not Voting:      None (0).
         
         Absent:        None (0).
         
         
         At 12:00 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was recessed subject to the call of the chair.
