         Pursuant to a notice posted on November 14, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Paul Sadler at  
         10:15 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Sadler; Hernandez; Hochberg; Price;  
                   Rhodes (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Dutton; Culberson; Uher; Williamson  
                   (4). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 11:00 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
