            Pursuant to a notice posted on March 5, 1997, the House 
            Committee on Public Education, Subcommittee on Safe Schools 
            met in a public hearing and was called to order by the 
            chair, Representative Harold Dutton, at 2:15 pm.
            
            The roll was answered as follows:

                      (4).
            
            Absent:   Representative Uher  (1).
            
            A quorum was present.
