         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 29, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was 
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Paul Sadler at 2:10 
         pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Sadler; Dutton; Culberson; Hernandez; 
                   Hochberg; Price; Rhodes; Williamson (8).
         
         Absent:   Representative Uher (1).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         This was an organizational meeting.
         
         At 2:43 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was adjourned.
