         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 15, 1997, the House  
         Committee on Local & Consent Calendars met in a formal meeting  
         and was called to order by the Vice-Chair, Representative Bill  
         Carter at 9:40 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Carter; Cook; Davis; King; Puente;  
                   Rabuck (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Gutierrez; Jones, Jesse; Siebert;  
                   Swinford (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Representative Carter offered a proposed floor amendment to HB  
         1153. 
         Representative Carter moved that the amendment be approved for  
         offering during floor consideration. 
         The motion prevailed without objection. 
          
         At 9:42 am, on the motion of the vice-chair and without  
         objection, the meeting was adjourned until 8:30 am, Monday,  
         May 19, 1997.
